Future Infantry Combat Vehicle

The Indian Army headquarters have grandiose plans to induct the Future Infantry Combat Vehicle worth about US$ 15 billion. Tata Motors, L&T and the Mahindra are also emerging as contenders for the FICV. The Indian Army will require more than 2600 of these FICV and the order will be worth Rs 50 to 60,000 crores. The Indian companies are partnering with foreign companies to offer a competitive system. The Indian MoD has notified that the FICV will be acquired under the make category of the Defence Procurement Procedure. MoD hopes that this will help develop India’s private sector defence industry.
